10 Man Cave Ideas For a Unique and Fun Home Hideaway

A man cave is a place where men go to relax and be themselves. Watching sports, playing pool, bingeing movies, and having drinks are just some of the activities that make man caves such a popular hideout for homeowners.

But it’s incredibly easy to make your man cave cheesy and bland, especially if you aren’t design savvy. The team here at Ponce Design Build has years of experience in working with customers in the Atlanta metro area on man cave renovation projects, so we’ve seen our fair share of poorly designed hangout spaces.

We put together a list of 10 man cave trends that are popular, stylish and cool, and are more relevant than ever in 2020.

1. Wood-Clad Walls

Wood paneling and dark decor make for a versatile space. Settle in with a book, watch a movie, or catch the ballgame in a calming but dignified man cave.

2. Smart Seating

One thing we’ve noticed in several man cave renovations is the lack of creative and sensible seating arrangements. Say no to lawn chairs, colorless barstools and recliners, and go with rounded furniture with plenty of seating so people can easily see the TV. This is perfect not just for watching sports, but also for movies, Netflix bingeing, or just chatting.

3. Futuristic Vibes

Surprise your guests with a futuristic feel, like the contemporary take on this pool table. Places like Amazon and Sharper Image are filled with incredible options for gaming amenities that are unique, fun, and perfect for a man cave.

4. Sporty Bar Stools

Bar stools are a highlight in any man cave, and if the wrong stools are chosen, it can throw off the entire aesthetic of the space. We recommend going with bright leather barstools with a contrasting backdrop to make the bar area pop. Avoid basic, boring wooden stools that blend in with the rest of the room.

5. Homemade Beer Caddies

Go with simple style and convenience with some DIY beer caddies for your guests. They’re super simple to make, they’ll help you avoid messes in the man cave, and all of your guests will appreciate it. If you aren’t too big on starting an arts and crafts project, search around on Amazon for similar beer caddies.

6. Wooden Basketball Hoop

Shoot hoops in style! Avoid the tackiness of a basic basketball hoop inside your man cave, and go with a more rustic and DIY look. Not only will the room have another fun activity, but it’ll also look good. It’ll probably get you a few compliments, too.

7. Storage Shelves

If you have a bunch of mementos that you’d like to put in the man cave, go with simple and clean storage shelves instead of placing them on furniture or around the bar area in order to reduce clutter, but also make the space more attractive. Keep your things organized!

8. Murphy Bar

A murphy bar is a nifty and convenient man cave amenity that’ll make pouring a drink that much more enjoyable. If you’re considering a wooden basketball goal and DIY beer caddies, a murphy bar would go super well with that.

9. Concession Stand

Snacks are the lifeblood of any good man cave. Treat your guests with a little concession stand on the wall filled with candy and snacks for the big game or for movie night! Just make sure you’re regularly stocked up on snacks to keep that sweet tooth happy.

10. Shot Glass Holder

This calls for a toast! Get your celebration on with a cute and convenient shot glass holder right next to the bar. You never know when you’ll get that big promotion or when your buddy gets engaged. Keep the life of the party going and make your own shot glass holder if you’re feeling creative!
