Project Date: June 2015
Project Price Range: $50,000 – $100,000

Project involved finishing an unfinished basement to create bedroom, bathroom, office and living area. Also involved HVAC upgrade, electrical and plumbing work, wood flooring on slab and complete finish work (trim, painting, etc.). Total area was approximately 800 sq ft. Unrelated work included replacing wall to wall carpeting with wood flooring on a different floor (1100 sq ft).
From the very beginning of consultation and estimates, all interactions were very professional and complete sense of wanting to meet my wishes for the project. This included understanding generally what I wanted to accomplish but also respecting the specific details that I wanted to include (flooring, tiles, fixtures, lights, electrical). The design phase went very smoothly with creative design solutions to accommodate existing duct work for upper floor. Cost estimates were in the upper moderate range but were much more complete and realistic compared to competing estimates. At the end the actual costs were very close to estimates with the only significant differences due to owner requests.
The quality of the work was excellent and even after 6 months of furnishing and using the space, I have not discovered any issues with the work quality. During construction phase I was always updated on timing and progress and both Barbaro and Aristotle were readily available, either on-site or by phone to answer questions or provide explanations. The size of the work crews were always sufficient to accomplish tasks efficiently and rather quickly. Given my specific requests, when some materials (e.g. bathroom floor tile) were not available, they worked with local suppliers to identify alternatives that I was happy with. This reinforced the sense that they were really trying to deliver what I wanted.
Total time to completion of the project was very good (~2 months) and much quicker than I have heard from friends who have had similar work done. Given my very busy schedule, this was a wonderful and stress-free experience for someone who has historically been a DIYer.
I can highly recommend Ponce Design Build based on my experience with this project.
